COOKING & NUTRITION

COOKING & NUTRITION

"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Design is knowing which one to keep."

CURRICULUM STATEMENT

Our curriculum aim is for all pupils to leave English Martyrs Primary School with an enriched experience of Design Technology. We aim to develop their love of creating  innovative designs and enhance their problem solving skills within a variety of contexts.

Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems, within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values.

At English Martyrs Primary School children are taught to select and use appropriate tools safely and effectively to make a product. In all areas of Design and Technology the children are encouraged to consider the effectiveness of their designs and requirements of the product.

The core skills underpinning our DT curriculum throughout the school are

  • Design, Make, Evaluate

  • Technical Knowledge

  • Cooking and Nutrition

Our curriculum equips the pupils of our school to use problem solving skills to become innovative, enterprising, resourceful and creative.
